Suspicious Facebook Behavior
I created a Facebook account to join a private group. A day after creating the account, they suspended it, claiming it “didn’t follow community standards on account integrity and authentic identity.” I had to upload a selfie, which I did. After two days, they reactivated my account and apologized for the inconvenience. Two days later, they suspended my account again for the same reason. Now, I have to record a video of my face, slowly turning it left and right.
I’m starting to worry that Facebook might be pulling a trick to gather biometric data. If they were honest about it, I might consider it, but the lack of transparency makes me hesitant.
Would you upload the selfie video? They literally just had a $1.4b settlement with Texas over gathering biometric data. FWIW they claim to have shutdown the program and deleted all the data. Maybe they get so much value out of it that they’re willing to pay $1.4b in fines? I had the exact same thing, but with Instagram. An old account that I used for years suddenly wanted to scan my face.
