Brazil to Ban X from the Country

14 points by lelo_tp a year ago · 8 comments · 1 min read

Our lovely minister is seriously banning X from the country, and imposing a fine of ~8.5K USD / day for any person that access X through a VPN.

Apparently they're also removing the most popular VPN apps from the AppStore.

This is insane. What a freaking shot at democracy

I guess you do get what you voted for…

Nobody voted for this judge-king. Not a single person.

Do you not find it odd that every leftist who votes in a socialist government says something similar?

“But I didn’t think the Face Eating Leopard party would eat my face!”

I find it hilarious and sad at the same time.

I kept track of some middle class to rich leftists who campaigned for these communists before the election. Almost all of them have fled the country already. One would think they would stay in the bountiful paradise they have created. Funniest part is they're probably gonna vote for socialists in the countries they immigrate to as well.

The poor communists don't seem to show up on social media anymore. They're very quiet now. First thing their president did was tax their cheap chinese products. Gotta appease the local industry lobby, they're not competitive and China's eating their lunch. 60% import tax on the price and shipping, plus ~18% tax on top of the price, shipping and the import tax. Gotta protect our non-existent industries.

Government generally started spending money like there's no tomorrow, so they need more revenue. Now there's a tax reform on the table and we're well on our way to become a country with one of the highest value added taxes in the world. Communist president literally ran on a campaign of fixing the economy so that average brazilians would get to regularly enjoy fine cuts of meat again. Now he says people should be watching their budget and buying chicken.

Our interest rates are over 10%, inflation is still obnoxiously high and yet they want lower interest rates. The communists are salivating at the chance to appoint a new central bank guy who will do what he's told. They're going to appoint a communist who does not believe in private property as head of the central bank.

I laugh psychotically at this stuff because it's just how I cope with this brazilian hellscape. If I stop laughing I think I might jump off a bridge.

Look on the bright side, at least nothing of actual value was lost.

Democracy is dying anyway. It's not sustainable anymore. Enjoy the ride and wait and see if there's any opportunity for you.
