Show HN: SandFaux – Your sandbox and our faux data
sandfaux.comAfter countless (TRULY COUNTLESS) hours of manually seeding and resetting Salesforce sandboxes for our sales demos and integration testing, we couldn’t take it anymore.
SandFaux started as an internal tool for this tedious process, but after a few customers asked for access, we decided to productize it & make it publicly available for anyone to use!
This was really just the starting point for our internal tool. We want to also add:
* Text Prompting for Scenarios
* Custom Fields
* Custom Configurations
* Dynamic Data
* More Integrations
https://sandfaux.com Wow, this is actually really cool and absolutely something I find value in. The integration was smooth and data generation was quick. Previously used Mockaroo but that shoots out an excel sheet which just adds additional steps to getting the data into Salesforce whereas this was seamless. Congrats on shipping and thanks for sharing it! You should explain what a "salesforce sandbox" is, because it’s not obvious at all. I use salesforce at work because I have to, but I have never seen a sandbox inside. It's a great question! A sandbox is a testing environment that isolates untested changes & experimentations from the production environments. Chances are if you're using Salesforce for work, it's the "production" instance that is meant for prime-time. There is probably some admin/developer/IT person in your company that has access to creating sandboxes to test changes before they push to everyone else. fwiw typically this is used by larger companies & isn't as useful for small startups. How is this pronounced? This seemed an odd question until I noticed the logo. Now my brain hurts. Haha!! This was meant to be a provactive conversation. It's pronounced "Sand-Fox". But the genesis of this Sandbox + Fake data (Faux). But given Fox rhymes with Box, we thought we'd be cheeky about it lol That's a little confusing because faux is pronounced fo or foe. yeah especially with 'Your Sandbox + Our Faux Data = <fox emoji>'
