Show HN: A computer that writes its own code
ac28r.comHi all, long time lurker here.
I’ve developed a computer that writes complex accurate code using a completely new technique for building specifications. Below is a link to 3 videos that describe it in depth and demonstrate its capabilities.
I know it’s a lot to take in, and I’ve tried hard to anticipate objections in the accompanying website. I’d much appreciate hearing any feedback you can offer. It seems quite comprehensive, but I don’t see an easy way to test it out. Presumably it’s not a web app or something we can download? I can see it allows you to integrate databases - perhaps that means it has to sit on a server? I thought the example demonstrations in the videos were most helpful - I see you plan to do more of them. Something showing the set manipulation in more detail would be good since this is one of the areas of coding that people trip over a lot. Thanks - yeah we covered numerical structures in some depth but it’s really hard to show how it handles really complex iteration like set operations, databases, and random variables. We are planning to do a video dedicated to them. I saw how you handled numerical structures and it looks pretty good - the way you combine them reminds me of R but obviously it’s a lot more flexible. I think I can see how you handle sets of data although the random variables are a little above my pay grade. Is this something that people can play with? Thanks for taking a look. Yes, we treat numerical structures as standalone entities that can be combined and manipulated. With some slight variations we do something similar for databases, sets and random variables. Basically, all of the iterative loops are hidden from view.
Unfortunately there is no easy way for people to play with it directly - its UI uses special expandable panels that would be difficult to build into a web page
