Shortened version of a long story: back in the 70s my marine biology lab stopped doing excess phosphate measurements of seawater because even after we stopped doing surfactant wash and moved to fresh glassware everything was phosphate rich.

I begin to ask myself how they exclude microplastic contamination in the measurement because to be in every sample begs questions.
