OAIC takes civil penalty action against Medibank

In Australia in 2022, a very large institution had a breach of private records [1]. That same year they made $590 million profit.

Today the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner has taken penalty action -- a rarity. This opens the door to rather large fines imposed by the Federal Court, up to $2m per contravention.
