Top climate scientists expect global heating to blast past 1.5C target
theguardian.comWe're doing too little, too late to stave off disaster. That's not surprising. Now I'm a glass half full kind of guy so let me point out the potential upsides. Yes, the ecosystem is going to be less than desirable for a few centuries. Yes, there are going to be hardships to endure - perhaps, sadly, the death of 20% to 40% of humanity. BUT - and this is the point - the current political regime will be overthrown. Revolutions are easy when you have nothing to lose. Tooday's "leaders" and political systems will be deposed of - when it's plain for all to see that our leaders and political systems today have failed us. Since the ecology is going to be screwed-up for hundreds of years, it will allow plenty of time for these lessons to settle deep in our collective conscience.
Meanwhile, this is gonna suck.
> the current political regime will be overthrown
You seem oddly confident in that prediction. There's a lot of alternative paths though.
Quote - "food production will be disrupted"
Right. The only one disrupting food production is government and they're doing it in the name of "saving us" from global warming.
The farmers are trying to tell us right now. They're not driving their tractors into cities calling for more to be done about Global Warming, they're trying to tell you that the BS legislation is crippling their ability to produce.
This will be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and we'll blame the boogie monster instead of regulations.
