Ah yes, blame it all on the shutdown of nuclear and not the 16 years of CDU and especially Peter Altmaier our Minister of Economy between 2018 and 2021, that was responsible for the sharp decline of new renewables [0].

    Thought experiment:

    If there's a dead calm in the north is there also a dead calm in the south or is it possible that there's wind in the south while there is none in the north and vice versa?

    Could it be that the electrical line would help to distribute power from areas with wind to areas w/o wind?

    And could it be that distributing power like this is better than relying on batteries that will run out of juice sooner or later?

    Isn't the net more resilliant if I can distribute the power from where it's generated to where I need it and only rely on batteries in rare situations where there is no wind in all of Germany?
