Show HN: Brain Grid Game – Solve Arc Puzzles and Aid AI Research
braingridgame.comIn January 2024, I started working on what has now become Brain Grid Game. It began as a JavaScript prototype focusing on rendering thumbnails of puzzle in the Abstraction and Reasoning Corpus (ARC). As the project evolved, I extended it with a UI for solving puzzles.
I have a Django backend for collection of user interaction data. This data is crucial as it helps understand how humans does problem-solving and enhance AI algorithms.
I recommend using a Desktop or iPad for the optimal experience, as some of the puzzles are quite large. While accessible from mobile devices, please note that the mobile experience is less optimized and offers a terrible first impression.
The Settings page includes various color themes to accommodate all users, including options for those who are colorblind.
Contribute to AI Research: As you enjoy the puzzles, your interaction data is collected to train AI models. This data helps advance the understanding of human problem-solving skills and supports ongoing research in machine learning and cognitive sciences.
I'm eager to hear your feedback, particularly on how to use the interaction history data for training an AI. Your critique is much appreciated. This desperately needs a tutorial, because the video is too much hype and not enough "here's a simple problem, and how we expect you to solve it". I also observe that the about page content is in some kind of iframe or something since only positioning the cursor over that middle piece of content causes it to scroll Tutorials, that is indeed something that is missing. I failed miserable in another video when I tried explaining what ARC is, in my own opinion. It seems to be about striking a balance of both being "I can solve this", while not being to hard "I can't possible solve this". I don't think this is the right video format for the landing page. I'm unsure what kind of intro would be helpful.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLGpNcQ5alI I will investigate the iframe issue. I tried with a fixed width and height, but that was extending over the screen edge on smaller devices, so I wrapped it in a div that grows. Thank you for pointing this out. Thank you for great feedback. Based on your feedback, I have updated the about page, so it somewhat explains what ARC is, with 3 videos of different lengths. Unfortunately I don't have a video that explains it in 30 seconds. https://neoneye.github.io/arc/about.html The middle piece that is vertically scrollable. I'm still investigating how to fix it. I have been working on a fix for the scroll issue on the about page. Can you check if it's better now?
