Build on top of the hacker news api. It's good to have options. This is just my opinion, but I'd recommend moving the next/previous page links to the bottom. With the current design once I'm done scrolling through the links I have to reverse scroll back to the top to navigate which feels frustrating. The margins and paddings remove a lot of the screen density you get with the real Hacker News. Even on my phone, I personally prefer more density and less space.
