Ask HN: Why do companies go for a mutual agreement for layoffs?
I work in a company that just had a layoff round. We are not US-based btw.
Buy why do they go for a mutual agreement instead of just the common severance package? They usually claim it's the same amount and even sometimes offer an increase in health insurance for an extra few months, which isn't a part of severance usually.
