Show HN: Schengen Zone Travel Day Calculator
eurotripr.comI built a small tool to help people traveling to Europe keep track or calculate how many days they will be in the Schengen Zone countries and - assuming they are restricted by the "90 days in a 180-day window" - how many travel days they have used and have remaining.
It's not 100% but I used ChatGPT to help me get it functional in a few hours and it's been the first thing in months I've pushed live so it felt like a win.
Would love feedback from anyone that knows the Schengen Visa 90/180 limits on how I could improve it a bit as I will eventually build it into a larger Europe Travel App I have been building forever.
Things I still need to do:
1. Add Text describing the Schengen Visa requirements, limitis, and included countries.
2. Fix A couple edge cases where the calculation fails slightly.
3. Add a disclaimer that this is for planning purposes only and users should consult official docs/country channels
4. List of Nationalities/Passports that this specific tool actually is for 4 might make sense, the tool isn't accepting that I spent _all_ days since September 16 of last year in the Schengen Zone, haha! What do you mean it "isn't accepting" that you spent all the days since September 16 in the Scehngen Zone? Is it not accurately calculating that you no longer have days available to your (assumed) 90 in the 180-day window? Is it giving an error that "you must input a number of 90 or less" and that the "earliest entry date must be within 180 days"? If that is the case, this is one of those edge cases I need to fix - if anyone has already blown through all their days allowed within the preceding 180 day period. 1. 2. If you can clarify what issue you are running into, i can fix it. Thanks! Yes, it's giving the error that I must input a number of 90 days or less. I'm being facetious, I don't fully understand who the tool is for (I'm definitely allowed to be here for more than 180 days in a row)
