Ask HN: Transitioning from web development to data engineering / AI work
Hi everyone,
I've been a software engineer working primarily on CRUDy web software for about 10 years now. I do like the work but I have been interested in data engineering for some time now, but haven't have an opportunity to work on a project which utilizes it and thus have no real sense of the landscape. It also seems like there is a big demand for these skills with all of these "AI" companies popping up.
I was wondering if anyone has made this sort of career transition and has any tips, or general starting points/guides/courses that I can begin to teach myself the fundamentals.
Thanks! Also been developing CRUDy apps for 10+ years and would be interested in learning about the steps one would take to make the transition happen.
