Ask HN: Is Kagi Search Down?
For about 30 minutes now, all Kagi search requests appear to return a blank screen. It also seems to take longer for the request to resolve.
Their status page[1] shows no issues, and their unauthenticated home page also appears to be fine. Vlad from Kagi here. We did indeed have an infra glitch, that should be resolved by now. Sorry for the interruption. The status page was indeed useless as it needs to be manually updated with the incident, and we prioritised fixing the issues vs doing this. This obviously needs to change. Any statuspage services that do a decent job at this? Fully down from switzerland on ipv6 and ipv4, but only for my tabs that are logged in, from private tabs I get the login screen. For status page, host a simple server somewhere that is not managed by your infra that just do a curl request (or whatever script you see fit, just make it self contained). I don't want to change my default search engine on all my machines temporarily and then have to change them back once the outage is resolved. Because I know that due to inertia, I won't do it until Google results start bothering me again (that won't be long - hah!). I type searches in my URL bar across multiple machine and mobile devices dozens of times an hour during "heads down" times. May I suggest (if browser extension apis allow this) for the extension to fall back to google (or whatever was configured before kagi) if a response from Kagi is not received in some timeout seconds. Why even have a status page if it's not updated... I'd at least expect some kind of automated health check failing and updating the page. Seems fine for me now.
Was getting a 500 after about 5 seconds for a while. However, some of the regions from https://status.kagi.com/ did work for me, while kagi.com and the Europe regions did not. I thought it was just me as the status page did not update, these things happen but would be better if the status page was more responsive. It is down for me.

Anyone know the link to their status page? https://status.kagi.com/ - Currently shows "No issues detected" (but down for me also) Down for me in the US West. This really can't happen. Search is essentially a part of the web browser itself. It seems to be back up now. Not fully, some pages still return 500 I wonder if this has to do with all of the other outages today.
