HP Enterprise to acquire Juniper Networks for $14B
cnbc.comThis is really sad news for the networking industry. HPE is not the innovator Juniper needs and deserves.
They might make solid products in terms of stability but from a datacenter automation perspective I'd hardly consider juniper an innovator. Late to the game on automated installation, _decent_ automated switch configuration, whitebox switching, virtualizing switching and routing environments (for testing configs via CI).
Honestly, in the datacenter, companies like Cumulus wipe the floor with them. I'm not losing any sleep.
Yeah that's what I'm alluding to. Juniper has GREAT foundations, but it's failed endlessly to innovate. It needs the leadership and financing to innovate to realize its potential.
I just hope that FreeBSD prevails.
