China builds more new fabs than other countries.

Thank you, US politicians. By forcing China to grow its own advanced semiconductor industry, you have begun the kill-off of the US advanced semiconductor industry.

Ignorant politicians (read: 'ALL OF THEM') should be prohibited from making important industrial decisions.

China is predicted to lead the world in expanding semiconductor production, with a total of 18 new fabs expected to begin production in 2024.

You don't need to add a comment summarizing the article, especially when almost all of the information is in the headline.

I wonder how much time it will take China to get their EUV photolitagraphy tool ready for production.

No time at all, in relative terms. Five years is a lifetime in the semiconductor industry.

As the Red Queen said to Alice: “Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!”

It is even harder in authoritative regimes: it is very hard for them to deal with gigantic ultra high-tech R&D: comfy area, with a lot of resources, with tons of the "right" and "legit" competent engineers/scientist, positively motivated at working all together. It seems this is much harder to set up than the space/nuke industry.
