Disclaimer: don't have TikTok so didn't checkout the linked source.

But on the topic of a non-engineer building a tunnel, there is also Colin Furze on Youtube [0]. Building a tunnel under his house to connect his 'bunker', workshop, home and future udnerground garage.

I’ve been following Kala for most of the last year. Her ingenuity is simply spectacular. She has yet to explain why she is building the tunnel or how she is avoiding any trouble from the authorities (she’s regularly getting a dumpster full of excavated rock removed from her suburban driveway in view of her neighbours).

Her municipality issued a stop work order (pending an inspection by a professional engineer): https://www.tiktok.com/@engineer.everything/video/7317787448...

No reason required - people do all kinds of things 'just because'.

The rock removal isn't much of an issue if you, say, ring your local council and ask where they stockpile material. Our council has several acres with piles of sand, clay, rock, mixed, etc. that gets dumped after trenching, levelling, et al. jobs and reused when fill is needed.

"Good" rock (for some value of) can even fetch a bit of cash from garden centres and elsewhere.

The rock removal isn’t the issue per se, it is a question of why so much is being removed. Doing it in Plain sight would cause nosy neighbours to ask questions and likely making some calls to the city.

Also, she’s using the good rock to build a new exterior wall in front of her current walls, with a goal of turning it into a castle-like facade. Again, no permits.

Not totally sure, but the bit about the water makes it sound like a storm shelter, which is a totally valid thing to build under your house in certain places.

Doesn't need to be TikTok, she has a YouTube channel also. https://youtu.be/nkhTw42kBJM?si=S7FlKH_Qu6igbi84

Damn! She’s no joke! She really knows what she is doing! Those inspectors are going to gape in wonder of her ingenuity and industry!

Just needs a periscope like Seymour Cray put in his tunnel when a tree fell down into it... or just don't tunnel under a tree.
