I’m often asking myself What was the name of that startup doing X?

So I decided to build a directory of startups, but group them by the space(s) they operate in.

- Every day new startups and spaces are featured

- Use the search bar to search for specific startups or search for spaces semantically

- Future plans include allowing contributions from users, more detailed startup profiles, and tracking of events (fundraise, product launch, etc.) of listed startups.

I'm not sure I'd call it an alternative to Crunchbase, I don't really see what is more "modern" about it either

I use Crunchbase for their data, such as location, employees, details regarding funding or their tech... your site doesn't seem to have any of that, it's just a brief description with a link to their website

It's fine as just a basic directory though

I doubt we would have clicked on it if they called it a Modern Alternative to Yahoo! Directory. You are correct though.

Can you allow people to add sites they found, for example adding something like Hydra or Citus would require you to know about them.

This is perfect though, cause I'm always finding fascinating tools online that I either favorite on hn or star on Github but not all the time there's also a rust serverless company that I can't recall the name of, which fits your use case nicely.

Yea clickbait title. Nothing to do with what Crunchbase does. It is just a listing of products with a screenshot. Even if the intent is to be a better crunchbase, it is far too early and honestly a low quality post at the moment.

Fair point. More detailed profiles and news/events are on the radar, I'm trying to figure out the best way to programmatically fetch those for each startup.

Nice. Looks like the frontend is Next on Vercel? Curious to hear more about your stack for this if you want to share.

I use Crunchbase for the same purpose but it’s become increasingly paywalled. I notice that the funding details are now entirely behind the paywall.

But they are so terrible keeping it up to date. I used it last year and it was maddening how many funding events they missed, I think a full time intern could do a better job of keeping up with things. I don't get it, surely they have enough money to hire someone to keep up with things better?

Love the interface. Great for discoverability. I assume you'll be adding stats and intel in to match the Crunchbase reference

How do I grab funding or number of employees or industry? I grab these from the crunchbase api. How is this a competitor?

It has one feature that's better than Crunchbase i.e. access Crunchbase with javascript turned off (my default) you get a blank screen with a page title of: "Access to this page has been denied". Whereas cujobay actually presents content right away - no js required.

Fantastic UX.

But I agree crunch base simply has a different use case.

How can you add/suggest new startups?
