Building Tableau: Bootstrapped to $15.7B Acquisition

Tableau was good and innovative early on but has now turned into another piece of junk, SaaS only software rental. After the Salesforce acquisition they even eventually started refusing to renew support and maintenance for people with permanent licenses.

Hopefully after thousands of dollars in purchases, you’re happy to start paying just for updates and such, on whatever new terms they like, where all your stuff goes away if you don’t pay protection money-with the alternative that if you don’t, no support or updates at all.

I wouldn’t call this a success story.
