Some pages of its console return "Bad Gateway". VPN and Instances connections are down. Oh no! Anyway. Slightly more seriously, does any website of note actually use OCI exclusively? Tiktok was famously supposed to be forcibly migrated, but AFAICT that never happened. OCI is celebrating that their outage almost made HN front page Almost all major Fortune 500 companies store some of their data on Oracle cloud. I have worked with around 10 of them in the last 5 years and more and more are moving from on Prem to cloud. It usually starts with moving their ERP systems and then more stuff rolls on from there . Notably, though, often not by real choice. Oracle historically made it financially unpleasant to run their software on your own VMs. So you either ran on bare metal or they moved you to Oracle built hardware/software appliances, which for many use cases were VERY expensive. Which then pushed you to their cloud. Essentially, they only grant themselves a reasonable way to run Oracle software on a VM. I use their Always Free servers, but just for a Minecraft server for my son. Yes, a lot of corporates that used to have the database nowadays have something running in OCI. incident is showing up on the official status page: https://ocistatus.oraclecloud.com/#/incidents/ocid1.oraclecl... Interesting. I have been wondering why a couple of (running) instances don't show up in the console. Tell HN: who?
