Ask HN: Looking for Music Recommendations for Working
Hi HN, I was looking for any suggestions to Spotify playlists or Youtube channels that you guys may offer for working/coding/etc to stay focused or keeping your momentum going.
I hate working in a vacuum. Ambient dub techno is the way to go. Check out the labels Energostatic Records and Ultimae https://energostatic.bandcamp.com/ I Awake's album The Core is one of my favorites between these: https://ultimae.bandcamp.com/album/the-core Slight correction: Ultimae is ambient / downtempo, while Energostatic Records is more orienting around dub techno (though also not super strict) Relaxing and uplifting. Great! Added to my work jam! Thanks To start off, here's a spotify playlist I like listening to on loop (it's oriental and beaty - but not distracting in my opinion) As the playlist name suggests, it makes you feel like a Yakuza member
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/52mozBnwzVFeIb8cBoW8rA?si=... I like "The Wanderings of The Avener" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1DjuhA13kE And the "Dredd OST", especially "Lockdown" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWfVfwz7rTM&list=PL8BoJZoO5J... Spotify has great curated playlists, whether from other users, the company itself, or (sometimes) its algorithms. I just search for "relaxing instrumental __________" (fill in a genre of your choice, be it classical or lo-fi or cello or bluegrass or whatever) and you should get a bunch of great hits. Thanks for the tip! That's how I've gone about it so far. Was just wondering if perhaps anyone had already tried and tested playlists. I remember really liking https://brain.fm but their pricing is exorbitant [0]. I recently gave brain.fm a go. I found it really distracting. I normally listen to music contantly, but dont normally feel too distracted. I could def feel bran.fm's throbbing. Background music actually negatively effects cognitive performance. You enjoy the work more, though. Related "Ask HN: What focus/coding music are you listening to these days?" https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36872316 Thanks for referring me to that thread :) Great stuff! I had hit a deep moment in tranquility a while ago, while listening to Brian Eno's Music for Airports albums. I don't remember exactly how, but I became one with the flow and nothing else matters Lofi Girl - mellow instrumentals with a strong beat Ah, the classic! Thanks for the recommendation. Have friends who listen to music from that channel too :) Tool
