Ask HN: How soon until tech giants use altered family/friends photos in ads?
I had this idea when I saw someone in an ad who strangely resembled my younger mother. I couldn't screenshot and verify because the ad disappeared.
That's when I wondered if Google or another entity might be using the photos we provide to generate AI-generated images resembling our loved ones. It sounds sinister but not impossible.
If I thought of it, others likely have or will soon. They are not that stupid. Things like that emerge more from the margins.
