When you owe the bank a million dollars, you have a problem. When you owe the bank 29 billion dollars, the bank has a problem.

I think the level of rudeness was carefully calibrated and perfectly appropriate.
The government isn't like a bank they can print their own money and issue nearly infinite debt. $29B is a lot but it's it's a blip in the annual budget of the government. Generals sneeze and spend a billion dollars.
