Mac OS doesn't care about backward compatibility
developer.apple.comSonoma doesn't allow to run older version of Xcode 14 and forces you to upgrade to Xcode 15. Even a downgrade to a Venture is not straight forward.
It’s the same every year.
At the time of this post, Sonoma was in beta.
