Ask HN: Distributed Solution for Family Pictures?
I'm a cloud engineer expecting my first child in a few weeks and I'm trying to find a good way to semi-privately share pictures with family members located across the globe. (Parents/Grandparents)
Ideally I would like 5-6 digital picture frames I can setup/distribute as gifts, and a way to singularly upload a picture(s) that will cast to all devices. The ability to remotely manage the frames would be a nice bonus.
Is there already a solution to this?
A Google photo or Facebook album might accomplish a private share, but I would rather something self-hosted and/or physical. Aura frames do exactly this and my family loves them. I haven't dug much into the privacy policy.
