[Broken - Undeployed] Show HN: AI Judges Your Spotify
yourmusictastesucks.comLots of errors?
> You've listened to a shitty song a lot.
"a shitty song" links to 404.
> Looks like your favorite band might be Taylor Swift.
I'm quite sure that Taylor Swift is nowhere in my play log.
> I guess that a shitty song is pretty good
Same 404.
And then I just get:
> Application error: a client-side exception has occurred (see the browser console for more information).
In the console, I see lots of errors:
> Uncaught (in promise) SyntaxError: Unexpected token 'U', "User not r"... is not valid JSON
> TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'album')
I assume the Spotify login did not fully work correctly? But it got my name correct in the beginning.
Thank you for letting me know; you're absolutely right- it's not working at all now for new users, my app hasn't yet been approved to leave Spotify's development mode- https://developer.spotify.com/documentation/web-api/concepts..., so the top/tracks and top/artists endpoint which I'm using to fetch data aren't functional.
Very embarrassing on my end- wish I had more than 1 Spotify account so I could verify the API was working for new users before posting- my apologies.
I had the same experience
The Pudding already did something like this two years ago:
The Privacy Policy is deceptive. It says:
> I'm not collecting any of your data. Now go back and get your music taste judged.
The site obviously is collecting your data. How else would it know your Spotify history? Now, it could say "I'm not storing, selling, or sharing any of your data except to you on your results page," which could be more accurate.
Very fair point- will update to be more technically accurate.
Developer judges your app Whoah, You've made a shitty app! It doesn't work! google.com
We need an AI that judges AI apps so we can go full circle and judge itself as well
Whenever it links me to a 'shitty song' I've apparently listened to, that link just 404s. Also, my favorite artist definitely isn't Taylor Swift, lol.
I think it may have a bug and is reverting to default responses. Got the same thing.
Since don't have a Spotify account, can't try the program!
But you mentioned Taylor Swift!!! With good makeup, clothes, lighting, expression, and photography, she's, we just have to admit, as they say, "drop dead gorgeous".
Taste in music related to computing??? Actually at present I'm pretty deep into that and later will have more to say here on Hacker News.
But for now a few simple samples:

Correction: The last URL was supposed to be
It's official: SQL group by queries are considered "AI" now.
Funny idea, but crashed for me after a couple interactions.
I listed to a lot of crappy music but the LLM thinks I listen to a lot of Taylor Swift, which I actually don't.
Yeah, looks like I didn't have API access past a 60 users for Spotify so it's only showing the default responses (which crash most of the functionality)- apologies!
The website won’t scroll, so I can’t get to what I assume is the operational part.
Safari on and iPhone 12, running whatever the latest OS is.
Yup it’s probably set to a height of 100vh and isn’t taking into account the safe-area-inset-bottom.
Absolute overlook on my part- thank you for pointing this out.
Great idea. I was going to make something like this.
Quick webpage faux pas though - on my iPhone I cannot press the button at the bottom, it is off the page
annoying iPhone css issue that often happens because height:100vh will be the height including the navigation at the bottom. I don’t know why Apple made it like this. It is such a pain in the ass.
> You've listened to a shitty song a lot.
I don't know what song it means, the link is broken https://www.yourmusictastesucks.com/google.com
Very sorry- ran into limits of Spotify so app is currently broken for new users.
404: NOT_FOUND Code: DEPLOYMENT_NOT_FOUND ID: sfo1::l6wq6-1693494360946-a24fc10c41a3
Yep- I can't unpost the link so I put "[Broken - Undeployed]" once I got comments coming in.
