Ask HN: If a country gets on the bad side of US, what all tech it can lose?
With the recent Russia-Ukraine war got me thinking how many of these global companies are American first when appropriate time. The stakes were high this time but the boycott could be used as a tool in future for much lower stakes.
Is there a protection against it in other countries?
Will AWS, Teams, Google, PayPal, Twitter stop working? What other critical services run by American corp can be at risk? Read the sanctions on Crimea Look at Iran and North Korea for case studies of countries that have been under boycott for a long time. Personally though if Teams and X went away I wouldn't miss 'em.
