That time I went a little bit insane
lesswrong.comI used to write like this when I did debate in high school. Then I learned that it alienates anyone and everyone to use 100 dollar words constantly.
attempting to open wide one’s mind to another in ways that go beyond words and feels more complete can… often lead to a collection of words chosen that is borderline headache-inducing.
that it is alienating isn’t surprising, and ought to be interesting. language is just a crude attempt, no matter how refined. and attempts to surpass it with… it… are, well, a bit silly. but what else is someone desperate to share, to do?
especially when the typical responses are going to judge the word selection.
at the same time, it is a blog post from less wrong being posted to here. that’s a pattern of its own.
anyone that’s squished their brain deliberately and lived to tell the tale has likely had at one point or another an urgent feeling of “better warn the others to be careful squishing their brains.” sure, there’s egotism there, the repeating paragraphs leading with “i” are more than stylistic. but there’s an intent to help.
Nah it just sounds more like /r/im14andthisisdeep
that’s just like, your opinion, man
