Ask HN: How should I deal with the sale of Google Domains?
I'm a rookie sysadmin who loved Google Domains. have like 8 actively managed domains on their service. they're shutting down and selling my account to squarespace
should I migrate somewhere else now? or after the transition? whither should I move? I use the cheapest registrar I could find and manage the domains in AWS Route53. I found the workflow there nice. To me it’s irrelevant which registrar as long as it’s cheap and I can change the name server I’m planning to move to Cloudflare since it’s cheap and I’m not aware of any reason I should avoid it. Porkbun is my backup plan. I assume Squarespace will raise my price after the one year grace period because I am paying less than what they currently charge.
