Google Removes FAQ from Its Search Results Page
developers.google.comOh, so Google search is about to get even worse. But that's good, the sooner the better.
No, I think this is a good thing.
Google's "quick results" which are supposed to help searchers before we navigate away, have been plagued with misinformation and threat actors attempting to game the results. A lot of it was ganked from Wikipedia directly, fraught with peril in the usual ways.
If Google limits these answers to Gov-based bodies, then more searchers will navigate away to the pages they searched for. Even if these are low-quality results, at least the provenance of answers will be apparent.
I thought this had more to do with increasing SEO traffic. But my point was that Google search is so spammed that it can't be made useful ever again.
