Ask HN: Is there a way to “filter” the posts on HN
I'm actually a bit bored of seeing Elon this and Elon that (and other subjects as well).
Is it possible to, by means of an application or CSS or whatever to remove certain posts? This is a nice idea, but you know it will have both false positive and false negatives, much as "winne-the-poo" does not actually only refer to a drawing by E.H.Shepard. But, I too would welcome something which quenched some stuff. I have wondered if some kind of post-hoc tagging would fix it but the mechanism to crowdsource trustable tags is .. hard and the burden on mods is high. That said, it could be done at submit times. Inevitably, systems which start as !elon windup being full regex because <reasons> in all honesty. Drastically reducing would already be great :-)
I'm not a programmer so i have no idea how to start something like this Use https://hnrss.github.io/ and filter via your RSS reader's mechanisms? Scan with eyes, ignore. Doesn’t seem worth a technical solution. It's not just ignoring. It's also fighting the urge to click on them (in the case of clickbait) I understand, but you can learn to resist. Pretty much everything about Musk is nonsense.
