New surgical procedure makes us question what it means to be alive
ft.comIt's keeping the body alive after an end of life decision and clamping off arteries to prevent brain perfusion. It means a higher rate of multi organ transplant because "it's all fresh" (sorry)
Unquestionably an ethical dilemma.
let’s lower the barrier of entry here.
perfusion is delivery.
cutting off blood flow to the brain to prevent the brain receiving blood.
which is necessary if one wishes to avoid things like brain activity.
it is killing a brain to harvest a body. but the person was already dead! no, the person was already showing little to no promise of recovery.
the clamping is to “prevent life from coming back.” to the brain.
while that is far less sterile than “perfusion,” procedures such as these only get a worse look if the masses get surprised down the road by the gap between reality and their understanding of it.
better to get it all out there.
