Why should anyone believe him?
Indeed, you really shouldn't. "Roughly" may well mean that it isn't losing 100's of millions any more but only tens of millions and for Musk that may well qualify as 'roughly breaking even' but without the numbers to go with it this is a meaningless statement.
Because he's in a position to know.
