Bloomberg Launches FOSS Fund to Support Free and Open Source Projects

This is definitely a move in the right direction, but I'd love to see more FOSS funds where I could apply directly as an open-source maintainer. Most of these funds rely on suggestions by the company's employees. This makes sense, but there are many projects which fly under the radar, often because they're three levels down in the dependency chain. For example, I'm sure that Bloomberg uses libxml2 somewhere but who's aware of that?

And they're even calling it FOSS instead of open source! I tend to take that as a sign of someone being serious.
