Japanese work culture scares me as a chaos loving engineer!

    yeah, I am passionate and will work hard but I don't want to work more than 8 hours and am not particularly hot on starting at 9 either.

    Apparently things are slowly changing and a new generation of companies are appearing that are run by younger people who aren't enamored with the 80's american corporate dream, but it's a slow thing.

      On my trip to Toyko, I once saw a salary man bowing on the street to who I assume was his boss. Even if you remove my Western way of thinking, I couldn't kiss ass like that if my life depends on it!

        Well an entrepreneur would see this as a business opportunity to hire people who are drummed out of japanese firms because they can't kiss ass, and provide a credible alternative to japanese firms.
