So much for conservatives' love of small government and states rights!

    Last time I checked conservatives are typically constitutional literalists and the claim is a violation of Interstate Commerce Clause which would make this rather ideologically on-brand.

    Perhaps Portland can fight for Liberty and attack the Supreme Court for the historically overly broad interpretation of scope of the clause and really show them!

      I think you may be confused. Conservatives are critical of the modern interpretation of the Commerce Clause because it expands the federal government's ability to regulate activity inside of states. (see the citation from the conservative Heritage Foundation below)

      It would then be consistent for conservatives to avoid using the commerce clause to force another state to change their laws. But conservatives are happy to be ideologically inconsistent in the interest of giant corporations.
