Staff, reportedly under threat of firing, break Twitter for Musk
sfgate.com“He bought the company, made a point of showcasing what he believed was broken and manipulated under previous management, then turns around and manipulates the platform to force engagement on all users to hear only his voice. I think we’re past the point of believing that he actually wants what’s best for everyone here.”
He’s such a petulant baby. That anyone takes him seriously boggles my mind.
Don't forget he's a genius guys.
He is a record setter… https://www.npr.org/2023/01/12/1148634966/elon-musk-guinness...
I wish I lost that much money.
that's another way to make the platform lose relevance... imagine if HN tried to always keep PG essays on the top of the feed
This is just a rewrite of a previously posted claim?
If there's a previous HN thread, please post the link to it.
If he truly got 80 people to work through the night for something so trivial, this shows what is really wrong with capitalism combined with a situation of immense surplus. It is actually sick. Twitter is one of the worst things to happen to the internet.
Not sure it's an indictment of capitalism as much as it's an indictment of authoritarianism.
Absolutely. Capitalism in fact does not incentivizes destroying companies. Actually, the new broken American capitalism does - squeeze a company for revenue to juice share prices and walk away from the ruins, but that is different.
Musk’s behavior has strong authoritarian tendencies. He is a caricature version of a spoiled king. Roll it back a few hundred years and a guy like that would be ordering to chop some heads if his chicken got overcooked.
> Elon Musk reportedly got fewer views than Joe Biden, so he changed Twitter algorithm
Musk has been pretty boring since he bought Twitter. It's like he's dropped the visionary narrative and he's just some burnt out guy.
If you are of a certain vintage on the internet;
Forum admin meltdown is what we are seeing, sadly.
Can’t say I’ve ever seen one those, but the good old forums were rather small compartments with a limited blast radius. It was a good thing. Mastodon actually is the same idea, so we are going back to the basics, in a way. I would argue that the discussion boards were more fun and easy to use.
