Ask HN: How was your ChatGPT Experience?
Despite all the news coverage, the several times I have attempted to use ChatGPT it has been down.
Have many folks here successfully been able to use it? (as opposed to just reading about it like me). What was your experience like? Any big surprises? I use it every day. It is really good at succinctly explaining concepts that might require a Google search and sifting through things to find what you're looking for. It is imperfect, but still incredibly useful to me. If you go into it without the mindset that you're out to discredit it and nudge it along with the prompts to find what you need, I think that is the most effective way to use ChatGPT right now. How are you able to consistently access it, though? Short of paying $42/month, I can't consistently reach it. Not sure – I would say 85%+ of the time it is available to me to use. If not, I just try again in 15-20 mins if I must use it. Sometimes there are network errors with generating large responses, but I find that if I just reload the site and try again it works. I'm in the Pacific timezone.
