I do tend to think that the whole anti-police movement was by design, that is to say it was deliberately fanned by multinationals, media conglomerates, and the government. And it's because it's time to move our antiquated law enforcement mechanisms to the future. We don't really NEED police anymore - we have the technological capabilities to achieve law enforcement via pervasive surveillance analyzed by AI. It would probably be a much more efficient and effective system than fully human based enforcement. Apart from highly skilled individuals used for SWAT type stuff like hostage situations, I think the jobs of most cops could be outsourced to a bunch of security cameras and some programs running on the cloud.

The areas police are leaving will get worse, because, shockingly, the police aren't some sort of racist hit squad portrayed by the media. The people they have to deal with day in and day out are worse.

People with means who provide value to a local economy will leave and go to places that actually have people willing to uphold the law and treat those that do with respect.

The downside is the leftist useful idiot screaming about racism then moving to Colorado/Florida/Texas for "unrelated" reasons who inevitably vote for corruption, graft, and other endless stupidity and the cycle continues.

With great power comes great responsibility.
