India’s population has already overtaken China’s, analysts estimate
japantimes.co.jpWe really need to stop presenting population growth as a positive. The article even uses the term "population dividend".
At global scale and in the current global situation the news that China's population had most likely peaked was the good news.
This, coupled with the mention that half of India's population is under 30 (ie population growth may keep going for quite some time) is the bad news, though it's even worse in Africa.
You didn't justify why population growth is bad.
The world is increasingly accepting the fear of population collapse and its a real threat. India is the only country in the world with decent replacement levels.
No country wants to end up like Japan.
Do I need to justify?
Do you read the news? Are you aware of the current environmental crisis and climate change crisis?
Global population has been exploding since the 50s and, coincidentally so have emissions and environmental destruction.
The HN crowd is not that fast, sometimes.
The world has a real threat of population collapse and the HN crowd can be really imbecile at times.
Population explosion is a dumb idea that has gone too far and people whose reading is limited to their school textbooks blindly believe in it.
Who says there is a "threat"?
Population could drop by two third and we'd still be be ahead compared to 123 years ago (1900), which should reallydrive home the "explosion" we've been facing.
