Google changed Google Maps URL: Your location data is no longer safe

Your location data was always unsafe with Google. Nothing changes now that Google has this new ability to collect the location data you willingly provided to... Google. Seriously, you can't hand your data over to Google and then be surprised when Google can get to it.

Thankfully the same trick for protecting your data still works with the new URL: to keep your map data from Google, don't use google maps. Alternatives exist.
