I think nothing here is new. Malicious adverts are taking users to fake download pages for software loaded with malware.
People have been doing that since online advertising was invented. This post is just using, and inventing (masquerAd??), buzzwords to try and imply they have uncovered something new.
"Threat Actors" - beware the vernacular of the self promoting.
How so? It's a pretty common term used to describe entities that engage in digital fraud, malware, etc.
I'm so glad these thought leaders are protecting us from threat actors.
