Ask HN: Would you (or your company) host your own document signing if you could?
Would you (or the company you work for) self-host a document signing solution if that were an option? I find it really weird, that there seems to be no obvious option to do so, in a space that so obviously has many reasons to.
Disclaimer: I recently started Documenso.com Most document signing solutions out there use no cryptography and are equivalent to someone claiming that someone else signed something. In this case, short of actual cryptography, you'd at least want the claimant to be a neutral, unbiased third-party - a self-hosted solution would raise lots of issues because you will be able to trivially and retroactively falsify signatures or documents. Good point. Cryptography can be a remedy here, but this is still a relevant factor IMO We use Docusign because after all of the hard work to close a deal, we want to make sure we get the signature and the signer doesn’t have to learn a new signature tool. Signers like Docusign because all of their signed docs are in one place. Noted. I think best practice signing is pretty learn free at this point, but it is good to remeber this notion
