u/merckhung made it possible to boot Ubuntu Linux on the Microsoft ARM Developer Kit. Screenshots linked, currently he states that following things he has tried:

    USB Type-A doesn't work yet
    DisplayPort doesn't work yet
    NVMe works
    USB Type-C works
Boots into Ubuntu Linux ARM64 kinetic
Wi-Fi driver works, but have not been tested yet
    Bluetooth doesn't work yet

I’m keen to see where these devices land over time. Currently I use a k3s cluster of Pi’s in my homelab, which is fine, but sd cards failing once every year or so does get bothersome.

I did consider getting an M1 Mac mini, but I didn’t feel Asahi was mature enough just yet. But given how much faster the M1 is over Volterra it remains the best option.

Either way, it’s exciting to see more arm hardware hit the market.

Not quite following the rationale? The hardware specs for the price didnt seem all that spectacular.

Interesting challenge I guess but that’s about it

What? The specs are great for the price. 2/3rds the CPU speed of an M1, 32GB of RAM, dual 4k display support, 512GB ssd. All for $600.
