Might be time to get out of this godforsaken industry for good. Anyone know any timber boatbuilding startups that are hiring? No, hang on, not a startup, I want a boatbuilder who’s been successfully running a business for half a century or more…

You mean like some wisened old artisan in the deep woods hand-crafting boats with arcane old-world knowledge all but lost to time, whom only the worthy can find by eldritch magic? And he takes you on like an apprentice in an old Kung-Fu movie? But one day while training you find him dead, murdered by a rival boat-building clan who have abandoned the old ways and embraced technology and capitalism and now you need to avenge his spirit by using the forbidden technique to build the legendary Five Dragon Catamaran and win the regatta for the money to buy the land the old Boatbuilder's temple sits on, which is the planned site for a new boat factory, but when your rival's modern craft falls apart going over the waterfall but your craft holds together because no resin bonds more strongly than a man's love for his trade, and as he tumbles to his death you reach out and save him, grasping his hand in yours, and in your moment of triumph, dragging him aboard and winning the race and saving the temple you look to the sky and see the old master looking down on you and you finally realize you were the legendary Five Dragon Catamaran all along?
Or, like, just factory work? That's probably all automated now. Is sandpapering boat hulls still a thing? Maybe you could do that. I wouldn't recommend it, though. Fiberglass dust is god-awful.
Yes, exactly like that! Where do I apply?
(Ummm, exactly like the eldritch magic bit, not the factory work...)
