Ask HN: Making Internet Friends
I am a pretty young guy with no friends, starting a job in a week but I'd like to grow my network because I live in a small town in Australia. Any ideas on where I should go?
You could try the Bumble[0] app to find friends in your local area. Haven't tried it since I have a close cadre of friends already. I would like to try it out of curiosity though!

Do you mean how to make friends online that you will then meet in person? Or just people to hang out with online? If it's the latter then usually you want to do it via some shared interest.

Not sure but... start a local computer club? or check the next biggest town over for computer clubs / hackerspaces?
