Ask HN: Making Internet Friends
I am a pretty young guy with no friends, starting a job in a week but I'd like to grow my network because I live in a small town in Australia. Any ideas on where I should go? You could try the Bumble[0] app to find friends in your local area. Haven't tried it since I have a close cadre of friends already. I would like to try it out of curiosity though! I'll try that for shits and gigs. I'll let you know how it goes... Do you mean how to make friends online that you will then meet in person? Or just people to hang out with online? If it's the latter then usually you want to do it via some shared interest. It's the former. Just people to chat to. Not sure but... start a local computer club? or check the next biggest town over for computer clubs / hackerspaces? Yeah but... I hate interacting with people IRL OIC uhhh... hm. Find an Aussie IRC server, start a new channel #[yourtown or area], advertise local places...? sorry not sure if much help Lunchclub
