macOS Ventura
apple.comPlease guys, there's a search function on the bottom of every single HN page !
Enough with the duplicate posts already.
MMD holy ._.. I'm here since 2010 and never noticed there's a search box at the bottom. Thank you very much.
I haven't been here as long but also did not know about the search at the bottom, which is probably not the best place to put functionality that users want to be core to the site.
I know it's there, but always forget and look for it at the top where everyone would sensibly expect it to be.
Things I like;
- Photos Shared Library. I have gone to hell and back trying to figure out a working solution for years.
- Freeform (waiting and hoping not to be disappointed). Just like, Apple Notes is now prime-time usable. It used to suck bad, in the earlier couple of versions back.
- iPhone Continuity Camera is an excellent one to have but definitely possible without it.
Everything else are "Eh!" (just like that voice message to Chandler in the 90s sitcom Friend).
I found an additional item for earphones in Settings. Does this mean that we can now update the firmware of the AirPods and the Beats without using the iPhone?
> With macOS Ventura, Safari is the world’s fastest browser
> Testing conducted by Apple in September 2022 using JetStream 2.1, MotionMark 1.2, and Speedometer 2.1 performance benchmarks. Tested with prerelease Safari 16.1 and latest stable versions of Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox at the time of testing on: 13-inch MacBook Pro systems with Apple M2 and prerelease macOS Ventura, and Intel Core i7-based PC systems with Intel Iris Xe Graphics and Windows 11 Pro; [...]
So they compared the speed of m2 MacBook, with an Intel i7 instead of an intel i7 running macOS?
I want to repeat this test myself after upgrading, but it seems strange to compare a browser against another on different operating systems (Safari on M2 MacOS vs Firefox on i7 Windows) rather than simply 2 different browsers on the same machine.
The only reason I can think of is that Firefox and Chrome haven’t yet been optimised for Ventura.
edit: The dedicated Safari page (https://www.apple.com/safari/) has more comparisons, including different web browsers on the same machine as well as Mac vs Windows.
Seems so! I wonder who they are trying to run under the bus — MS, Intel, or their previous selves? They still sell a couple of Intel-based Macintoshes!
Why? Maybe the website could change the name to "Tech News".
