Russia says China will start paying for gas in rubles and yuan

Haven't they already been doing that? I swear, they announced this years ago - the last time around Russia was getting blasted with sanctions.

Then again, they probably announced some other more limited thing. But, why wouldn't China want Russia to pay with RMB - why didn't they start it sooner?

I wonder what the exchange rate going to be, and how much it will hurt Russia - even before the war they were reportedly selling to China at cost.
