What ever happened to the first cryogenically frozen humans?

It was disappointing to learn that freezing and subsequent thawing to this very day still irreparably damages the flesh and there is massive damage incurred. I had mistakenly believed that this had been solved by replacing the blood, but it makes sense on retrospect.
