An incident impacting some accounts and private information on Twitter

"To keep your identity as veiled as possible, we recommend not adding a publicly known phone number or email address to your Twitter account."

Companies are getting more and more insistent on the phone number. In China services are already phone number only and I'm afraid we are heading that way too.
